Three days, one story: planning a multi-day Nigerian wedding

The traditional engagement, the church or court wedding & the reception can each have their own guests, colours & dress code. Here is how to keep them clear.

Many Nigerian weddings are not one event but several: a traditional engagement, a church or court ceremony, a reception & sometimes an after-party. Each has its own rhythm & often its own guest list.

Give each celebration its own page

List every celebration on your wedding website with its date, venue, time & dress code. Guests find what applies to them without scrolling through a long message.

Be clear about who is invited where

If the traditional engagement is for close family & the reception is for everyone, say so kindly & plainly. Clear information prevents awkward moments at the gate.

Keep vendors in the loop

Share the full schedule with your planner, caterer & photographer, so each knows which days they are booked for & where they need to be.
